Durga Puja 2022: Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava or Sharadotsav, is a yearly Hindu festival honoring the goddess Durga. West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Odisha, and Bihar observes with great fanfare and opulence.

The five days of celebrations from Shashthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Nabami, and Vijayadashami are collectively we call Durga Puja.
The puja begins from the sixth to the tenth day of the brilliant lunar fortnight, per the Hindu calendar’s Ashvin month.
The mood is already in place long before the Goddess is thought to leave her residence in the Kailash.
For her parental house in the mortal world, even though the festivities begin on Shashthi.
Legend has it that Devi arrives on Earth on “Mahalaya,” the conclusion of the Hindu festival of “Pitripaksha,” which lasts for 16 days and dedicates to Hindu ancestors.
Mahalaya inadvertently sets the tone for the Durga Puja the day before the ‘Devipaksha’ begins.
According to the Hindu calendar, the “Mahalaya” celebration on the final day of the dark fortnight call as “Krishnapaksha” in the month of Ashwin.
The 10-day Sharadotsav, as it calls locally in Bengal, begins the following day as Sharad month officially begins.
Durga Puja 2022 Date
On the first day of Navratri, which begins on September 26, 2022, Maa Shailputri worships.
September 27, during the second day of worship, Mother Brahmacharini Devi worships.
On the third day of Navratri, which falls on September 28, Mother Chandraghanta worships.
Maa Kushmanda worship on September 29, the fourth day of the festival.
On September 30th, Panchami Tithi, Goddess Skandmata worships.
October 1, which is the sixth day of Navratri, Goddess Katyayani worships.
On October 2, the seventh day of Navratri, people will worship the goddess Kalratri.
October 3rd, which is Durgaashtami, Maa Mahagauri worships.
On October 4, Mahanavami, the Sharad Navratri fast will be broken.
October 5, 2022, Maa Durga will be immersed, and the tenth day of the festival of Dussehra will be observed.
